From "is it really A2?" to "will the jar break in transit?" — if you’ve wondered it, someone has asked it. Browse by topic, or jump straight to your question via the categories below.
Yes. It is made exclusively from A2 protein milk of indigenous Gir cows. A1 and A2 refer to two variants of the beta-casein protein in cow milk - Gir is one of the few Indian breeds that produces only A2. We do not blend in milk from cross-bred or high-yield A1 herds.
Bilona is the traditional four-step process: milk to curd, curd hand-churned to butter using a wooden ravas, butter slow-heated in copper or earthen vessels until the milk solids caramelise, and the warm ghee strained into glass. It takes 10x longer than the modern "direct-cream" method and yields about 60% less per litre of milk - but produces the grainy texture, deep aroma and digestibility that is the whole point of ghee.
Almost all supermarket ghee today is made by the direct-cream method - cream skimmed off milk, heated, bottled. Faster, cheaper, and missing the cultured-curd stage entirely. It tastes flat by comparison. The colour, aroma, granular winter-set and even the way it foams while you cook are different.
Because the inputs are genuinely different. A2 Gir cow milk costs roughly 3x crossbred-cow milk at the farm gate. Bilona yields ~60% of direct-cream by volume. Glass packaging costs more than tin or HDPE. We do not pay influencers or run discount-led marketplaces. Every rupee goes into the jar.
Yes - that is actually a quality signal. Pure cow ghee turns grainy and creamy white below ~25°C. If a so-called "pure ghee" stays liquid through Indian winters, seed oils have almost certainly been blended in. Ours sets every December and re-liquefies on its own as the weather warms.
A2 bilona ghee is what most Ayurvedic practitioners specify when they say "ghee", and it is widely recommended for post-partum recovery in traditional protocols. We are not doctors though - if you have a medical condition, please ask yours. We can ship a sample for evaluation; email care@desibynature.in.
Yes - FSSAI licence number is on every label. Each batch is also third-party-tested for adulteration, moisture, and free fatty acid content before it leaves the dairy.
Most are sourced from farms practising organic methods, but we only carry the "organic" claim on products that hold a current third-party certification. The others are honestly labelled "single-origin" or "natural-grown" - we would rather under-promise than mis-label.
Turmeric: Erode, Tamil Nadu (high-curcumin Salem variety). Hing: hand-graded Iranian compound, blended in Lalitpur. Ceylon cinnamon: Sri Lanka (true Cinnamomum verum, not cassia). Each product page lists origin, harvest period and the lot number.
Whole spices we sell as-is. Ground spices (turmeric, ginger, chilli) are stone-ground in small lots within 30 days of dispatch so volatile oils do not oxidise. We never grind a year of stock at once.
Because it is fresh and high in curcumin. Stale supermarket turmeric is mostly starch with the colour oxidised away. The vivid orange-ochre tint you see is the curcumin still alive.
A cool, dry shelf is plenty - no refrigeration needed. Use a clean, dry spoon every time (water introduces mould). Keep away from direct sunlight and the stovetop. Once opened, finish within 6 months for peak aroma.
Unopened: 12 months from manufacture date (printed on the lid). Opened: 6 months when stored correctly. Most customers finish a 500ml within 4 weeks of opening, so this is rarely the limit.
No. Refrigeration changes nothing about safety and only makes it harder to scoop out. Pure ghee is shelf-stable because the water and milk solids have been clarified out during the bilona finish.
Air-tight container, away from heat and direct light. Whole spices keep for 12+ months; ground spices are best within 6 months of opening. We send our ground products in stand-up zip pouches so you can reseal them.
Metro PIN codes (Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad) get delivery in 2-4 working days. Tier-2/3 cities take 3-6 days. Hilly and north-east PINs add 1-2 days. We dispatch within 24 hours of receiving an order.

Not yet. Domestic India only. We are evaluating Singapore, UK and US for 2026 but no firm date.
Most metros and tier-1 PINs are served by Delhivery surface or air. Remote PINs go via Bluedart or India Post Speed Post. The tracking link in your shipment email lets you check progress live.
The checkout page checks your PIN against our courier coverage map in real time. If it is not serviceable, the page tells you before you pay. You can also pre-check at the product page.

We have honoured every such request so far.

Plastic leaches into warm oils. Tin reacts with the lactic acid that ghee carries from the cultured-curd step. Glass is inert, food-safe, and lets the aroma stay true for a full year. It also cleans up beautifully for reuse - many customers refill our jars with home-made things.
The glass jar, the steel lid and the corrugated carton are all recyclable end-to-end. The shipping cushion is paper-straw, not bubble wrap. The shipping tape is paper. We are working towards zero plastic in the entire chain by Q4 2026.
Yes - 1L and 5L jar formats for restaurants, hostels and bulk gifting. Email care@desibynature.in with your monthly requirement for institutional pricing.
