Buying ghee online is simple from your side: choose a size, pay, wait. Behind that is a surprising number of steps, several of which exist because glass and couriers are not natural friends. Here is what actually happens with an order of ours, step by step.
Before the jar exists: the batch
Every jar starts as a batch made at the dairy. For our Gir ghee, a sample from each batch goes to an independent NABL-accredited laboratory before the batch is released for sale. The batch number printed on your jar links back to that production run, which is how we can share the report for your specific jar. We explained how to read one in how to read a ghee lab report.
Step 1: You place the order
At checkout, your PIN code is checked against live courier coverage before you pay, so you find out immediately if we cannot deliver to you. You pay online through Razorpay, which handles UPI, cards, net banking and wallets, or choose Cash on Delivery with a small advance paid online. Card details are entered on Razorpay's systems and never reach us.
You receive an order confirmation by email with your order code.
Step 2: Packing a glass jar properly
This is the step we put the most care into, because a broken jar is a bad experience for everyone. Each jar is sealed, wrapped, and set into a protective insert inside a corrugated carton rated for its weight. Larger dolchis are packed to stop them shifting in the box.
We use glass for our jars despite the extra cost and weight for reasons we set out in glass jar, plastic tub or tin.
Step 3: Dispatch
Orders placed before 4 PM IST on a working day are normally packed and handed to the courier the same day. Orders after that go out on the next working day. We do not dispatch on Sundays or national holidays. Around major festivals, courier volumes rise across the country, so it is worth ordering a little earlier than usual.
Step 4: The courier
Most metro and tier-1 PIN codes are served by Delhivery. Remote PIN codes may go by Bluedart or India Post Speed Post. We choose the carrier that delivers most reliably to your PIN, rather than simply the cheapest one.
When the courier scans the parcel, you receive an email with a tracking link. You can also track any order without signing in on our order tracking page, using your order code.
Step 5: Delivery
Counted from dispatch, delivery usually takes 2 to 4 working days to major metros, a few more days to other cities, and longer to hilly regions, the north-east and island territories. These are courier estimates and can stretch with weather or festival volumes. If tracking has not moved for three working days, message us and we chase the courier ourselves.
Ghee ships free at every size and to every serviceable PIN code, with no minimum order.
Step 6: When it arrives
- Open the box carefully and check the jar.
- If it is liquid, grainy or solid, that is normal and depends on the weather.
- Store it in a cool, dark cupboard, away from the stove.
- Warm half a spoon and smell it. That is the best introduction to any ghee.
If something goes wrong
Damaged or leaking: send your unboxing video within 24 hours of delivery, with your order code. We arrange a replacement, and you do not pay for it. In most cases we do not ask for the broken jar back.
Wrong item: the same process.
Changed your mind: cancel any time before dispatch for a full refund. Food cannot be returned once it has shipped. The details are in our returns policy.
